This section highlights the team’s innovative work on the Ducati X Diavel S ‘Sabretooth’, Ducati Panigale ‘Eternity’, and BMW R nineT ‘Aurora’, conceptualized by M. Doruk Erdem, were brought into reality by the team at GB Motobike.
Blending narrative with functionality.
The logo for the ‘Sabretooth’ concept seamlessly intertwined with the motorcycle’s unique story, perfectly mirroring its dynamic character. It was meticulously designed to be more than just an emblem; it was a key part of the bike’s overall identity. Crucially, the logo was crafted to ensure ease of reproduction across different sizes and mediums, maintaining its distinctiveness and visual appeal in any context.
Transforming concepts into reality.
In the development of the Ducati X Diavel S ‘Sabretooth’, a significant part of the process involved the hands-on production of clay models and fiberglass molds, an area where I played a crucial role. The approach combined traditional artistry with advanced production techniques. In shaping the clay models, meticulous attention to detail was essential to ensure that each aspect aligned seamlessly with the overarching design vision.
The transition to fiberglass mold production was a critical step in materializing the design. It required exact precision to accurately translate the conceptual vision into a physical form. The craftsmanship involved in this phase was evident in the precision of the molds, which were fundamental in shaping the final design.
Once the fairings were produced from the molds, the team dedicated themselves to the final stages of refinement. This phase involved a series of precise adjustments and enhancements, each contributing to the motorcycle’s exquisite detailing. The culmination of these efforts resulted in the striking form of ‘Sabretooth’ as it stands today, a testament to the blend of artistry, precision, and technical prowess.
Harmonizing classical artistry with modern technology.
In the development of the ‘Eternity’ and ‘Aurora’ projects, the team embarked on detailed clay modeling, a task that pushed the boundaries of traditional techniques. As the projects evolved, the need for prototyping intricate parts arose, presenting a unique challenge.
In response to this challenge, I developed a solution by modifying the Hypercube EVO 3D printer by SCOTT_3D. This modification was undertaken with a focus on aligning the printer to the specific needs and budget constraints of the projects. The process involved technical adjustments and optimizations, carried out over a period of two weeks with few sleepless nights. The result was a bespoke 3D printing solution that significantly enhanced the team’s capability to rapidly prototype and iterate design concepts.
This enhanced 3D printing capability proved to be instrumental in the projects’ progression. It not only offered increased flexibility in design iteration but also provided rapid prototyping solutions, crucial for meeting tight deadlines. The ability to quickly produce and refine prototypes was a significant advantage, greatly alleviating time constraints and streamlining the design process. This efficiency was key in navigating the demanding schedules and contributed significantly to the successful completion of these ambitious motorcycle designs.
Through the collaborative efforts of entire GB Motobike team, the Ducati X Diavel S “Sabretooth,” Ducati Panigale “Eternity,” and BMW R nineT “Aurora” concepts were ultimately showcased at the prestigious Motobike Istanbul 2019 event. The event served as a testament to our dedication and passion for delivering exceptional design outcomes.
